Article Marketing: Website Promotion On A Shoestring Budget
For many entrepreneurs new to internet business and affiliate marketing, promoting your new website can be quite a daunting task, especially if you have a very limited budget for advertising. We’ve all heard how great Google AdSense is with quickly generating targeted traffic and I won’t disagree. However, to be completely honest it can be very expensive which leaves out a lot of internet entrepreneurs that are new to the market. So, what is one to do that is maybe starting their fist website and has limited funds for website promotion via pay per click or traditional contextualized advertising?
To put it simply: article marketing. Article marketing is the process by which you write highly relevant information packed articles on your chosen niche and submit them to article directories and grant them redistribution rights. From there, anyone (specifically online publishers) will republish your articles on their site in exchange for them including your author byline and a link to your site. There are several benefits to this method of website promotion.
- Most article directories accept article submissions for FREE
- Your articles remain on-line indefinitely, driving traffic to your site for years to come
- When your articles are republished, you get link backs to your site which boost your search engine ranking
- These articles can also be posted to your site, building your content in the process
The reason I choose article marketing over Google AdSense, especially for a new site is mainly because I want to make sure my website is fundamentally sound, is getting traffic and converting before I start dumping money into pay per click advertising. Pay per click is a one time shot that will drive lots of traffic to your site in a short period of time. However, once the clicks that you paid for are done, that’s it. It’s a very short term benefit unless you keep investing in more advertising. You can really waste a lot of money by starting out with pay per click, only to find out later that you have some fundamental problem with your site. In that case, all the advertising money in the world is not going to help you. Once I know that my site layout is good and is generating both traffic and converting into sales, then I move onto pay per click. At that point, my site is successful and I just want to amplify what is already happening. This is when AdSense becomes a viable option to compliment my article marketing campaign.
